XCEL was founded in 1982 by a man named Ed D'Ascoli. With inspiration at his doorstep in his Sunset Beach home, he began a brand of world-class performance wetsuits for surfers and body boarders around the world. After laying the core foundations of the new company, D'Ascoli revolutionized the industry by using cutting edge materials and designs to form surf gear that performed in even the most hairy situations. While surfers were the companies initial targeted marketing niche, the company has expanded over the years and now offers surf, dive, paddle, wake, and UV protection products. The features of their products have been so successful that the military now orders wetsuits through Xcel.
The Drylock fullsuit has been officially named the SIMA suit of the year. With a Drylock Zip system, geometric ankle seals, Airprene insulation technology, pressure bonded seams, a ThermoCarbon Inner Lining, and a Quick-Dry Fiber exterior, it is no wonder why professional and recreational surfers choose XCEL.
