Water is such an abundant and necessary part of daily life on this planet, yet many people do not think about all the interesting water facts. Water covers about 70% of the planet, and 97.5% of that is salt water contained in the earth's oceans. With so much salt water it is important to conserve the fresh water on this planet as much as possible. There are countries in the middle-east, such as Saudi Arabia, that have built elaborate desalination plants that make the salty ocean water fit for human consumption. This is one way of ensuring there is always fresh water available and the people living in this region are very aware of water facts.

One of the interesting water facts is that the human body is made up of about 70% water. So we are mostly made of liquid, and as a result it is easy to get dehydrated if the proper amount of water is not consumed during the day. Another water facts truth is that by the time a person feels thirsty dehydration has already set in. So it is important to drink at regular intervals throughout the day whether you feel thirsty or not. All of the organs in the body are dependent on an adequate water supply to function properly. The kidneys use water to filter out large amounts of waste material from the human body.

Another water facts myth dispelled is that camels store water in their humps. The humps are actually composed of fatty tissue. There are so many water facts to learn about, yet most people take water for granted nowadays. It is easy to forget about important water facts when we are supplied with an adequate supply of water from our taps.
