There are a plethora of options when it comes to scuba diving, all around the world. The following are a few of the top scuba diving sites, though they are also quite dangerous and should be attempted by experienced divers only.

Yongala, Australia

The Yongala is the name of a shipwreck near the coast of the city of Queensland. The Yolanada was a ship that got shipwrecked in 1911, killing over a hundred passengers. This area is now used as a diving site by many tourists. The area is rich in aquatic life, and you are sure to see creatures like sea snakes, manta rays, turtles, octopuses, tiger sharks, bull sharks and amazing coral reliefs.

Sipadan Island, the Barracuda Point

Mabul island

The Barracuda Point located off the island of Sipadan is probably one of the most picturesque diving sites in the world. The Point is essentially a wall of coral that you swim along while sharks and barracudas swim all around you. Most underwater diving videos are shot at this point.

The Blue Corner Wall at Palau in Micronesia

Once again, this is a wall of coral, except here the sea life is more diverse. You are sure to catch a glimpse of stone fish and puffer fish, and if you are lucky, sea turtles as well.

Thistlegorm, located in the Egyptian Red Sea

Thistlegorm

While many would not associate the Egyptian Red Sea as a good diving spot due to the weather conditions, the water temperatures are generally low enough for a comfortable diving experience. In fact, many of the best diving spots in the world are located in the Egyptian Red Sea. This particular site is a huge shipwreck which was carrying train carriages, trucks, and even some motor bikes.

The Navy Pier in Western Australia

It is sometimes difficult to get permission to dive in this site since it is used as a training area for the navy. If you are lucky to get here however, you will be enthralled by the amazing diversity of underwater life in a diving site that can stretch up to 300 meters away from the shore.

While these are some of the best diving sites in the world, they can also be considered some of the most dangerous, due to heavy currents. Be sure to check out these diving sites if you are an experienced diver.
